Hollyoaks airs shocking Warren betrayal as Mercedes reaches breaking point
Christmas at the McQueens was anything but cheerful.

Hollyoaks has aired the second of its four special episodes set on Christmas Day, with the McQueens taking centre stage this time.
Yesterday’s episode saw Dee Dee having to admit to her family that she’s been the one tormenting Frankie after she developed a crush on abuser JJ. But that wasn’t the only secret exposed, as Diane was revealed as Mercedes’ blackmailer, knowing she was the one who shot Tony.
However, it later came to light that Tony was aware it was Mercedes who had shot him and he’d decided against telling the police so as not to ruin another life. The episode ended with a furious Diane confronting Mercedes for shooting Tony before calling the police to report her.
On 23 December episode, it was Christmas morning at the McQueens, but Mercedes, who is addicted to prescription anxiety pills, wasn’t feeling festive.
As the family opened their presents, Jack and Pearl arrived before Warren entered in a full Santa costume, and was angry at Mercedes for forgetting to wear her matching outfit.
Mercedes then went outside and saw Gemma over the fence, taking the opportunity to ask her for more pills. Gemma said she didn’t have any but passed along a dealer’s number.
Back inside, Theresa was excited for Dodger’s arrival and told Mercedes how happy he makes her. Mercedes admitted to Theresa that she has doubts about her relationship with Warren, and whether they’re really meant to be.
Unfortunately for her, Warren, who was planning on proposing, heard the whole conversation from the other side of the door.
Mercedes then went to collect her pills from the dealer, leaving Warren worried about her whereabouts.
Warren then went outside and saw Gemma, who told him she’s struggling with her dad before Mercedes returned in high spirits, causing Warren to be suspicious.
During dinner, and as the family continued their celebrations, Warren watched as Mercedes knocked back drinks.
When he accused her of making a scene, Mercedes lashed out before Warren revealed he knows she’s addicted to pills and had visited a dealer.
Mercedes ordered Warren out but, after he said he’ll return for their daughter, she followed him into the street where Gemma saw them arguing and attempted to cool them down.
Realising she’s who told Warren about the drugs, Mercedes attacked Gemma and accused her of being behind the blackmailing.
However, Diane walked past and stepped in, admitting she’s the one who’s been blackmailing Mercedes. Diane then confronted Mercedes about shooting Tony and told her she’s ruined their family’s life and she’s happy hers is now in pieces.
Meanwhile, Warren took Gemma back to her house and the pair ended up admitting their feelings for each other and sleeping together.
Later on Christmas night, Mercedes went to Gemma’s house to apologise for lashing out, unaware that Warren was listening from upstairs.
