Coronation Street Billy Mayhew actor’s real love life with co-star before sad split

Coronation Street actors Daniel Brocklebank and Rob Mallard once dated in real-life away from the famous cobbles.

Daniel Osbourne actor Rob publicly announced he was gay during a 2017 interview with Gay Times, having disclosed his sexuality to his family when he was 17. He expressed at the time that he “never planned to keep [his sexuality] quiet.

After landing a role on the ITV soap in 2016, the star began a romance with fellow actor Daniel, who has portrayed Weatherfield vicar Billy Mayhew since 2014.

The pair went public with their relationship when Rob scooped up a British Soap Award for Best Newcomer in 2017, where he gushed in his speech: “Even though this is fantastic, Dan, you’re the best thing I’ve ever taken home.”

But just a couple of months later, the duo called it quits, citing the strain of working and being together as the reason for their split. Rob later went on to date Ben Perryman, but the couple split in 2019, confirming in January 2020 that things had reached their “natural end” and he is believed to have remained single during the country’s lockdown.

However, the soap star has since appeared to find love again. Back in June 2023, the actor appeared to go public with his new partner as he took to Instagram to share a snap of himself all suited and booted for this year’s British Soap Awards. He looked dapper as he attended the star-studded bash in his three-piece navy attire but added a cool edge with a pair of dark sunglasses as he posed outside with his equally-dapper guest.

“British soap awards 2023 with @mattmarcm,” he typed alongside the post with a red heart after attending the annual event which saw Corrie winning big on the night with six silver gongs making the short trip from The Lowry theatre to the soap’s set in Salford.

Daniel is currently dating Jordan Coulthard with the pair going Instagram official in July 2023 by sharing a loved-up snap online. Jordan is reportedly an aspiring singer as well as a policeman. He was also previously loved-up with boyfriend Stuart Hatton in 2019.
