EastEnders star warns ‘drama ahead’ as Mark Fowler Jr’s real return reason revealed
EastEnders actor Stephen Aaron-Sipple, who plays Mark Fowler Jr on the BBC soap, has revealed what brought his character back to Walford, as he teased big drama ahead

Mark Fowler Jr’s real plan for his time in Walford has been confirmed by one EastEnders star.
Stephen Aaron-Sipple, who plays Mark, teased huge drama ahead amid a twist involving Ravi Gulati. He finally explained Mark’s key reason for coming back to Walford, hinting at what was on the cards for Grant Mitchell and Michelle Fowler’s son.
He claimed to Vicki Fowler, his sister, that he’d come back to support her. He soon admitted to his uncle Phil Mitchell that this was a lie, and he needed his help.
Mark explained that he was accused of being a grass, and he was determined to track down the police informant. Now, actor Stephen has explained his character’s come back, detailing exactly what the plan is.

He said: “Mark’s under a lot of pressure. The whole reason he is back in Walford is to figure out who this informant is, and he thinks he knows, but it’s a big step to take without being in full receipt of the facts.
“He’s definitely under the cosh, and therefore he needs to make sure he is making the right decision.” With him needing to find the informant to get himself in the clear, he’s facing threats and he fears for his family.
The actor shared: “For a long time, Mark has only really had to look after himself so the fact that Vicki has unwillingly been bought into this situation has been a huge factor into how overwhelming he is finding it all. He feels completely out of control of the situation.”
Next week sees Mark act on his suspicions that Ravi could be the mystery informant. Stephen teased: “He thinks he knows it’s Ravi.
“I think deep down, Mark doesn’t want it to be Ravi because Ravi is a family man and he sees a lot of similarities between himself and Ravi. But, at the end of the day, in Mark’s mind, his family is more important, and Vicki’s safety is more important.
“He knows that he is stuck between a rock and a hard place, but Vicki is the most important person to him in this situation. Which means if it is Ravi, he needs to be 100% sure it is because he is going to have to do something that he doesn’t want to do.”
It soon leads to a showdown between the pair. The actor revealed: “When Mark gets in that car, he’s not sure if this is a fallout from the bosses, if this a fallout of him breaking into Ravi’s house, or if this is Ravi taking matters into his own hands.
“He is not sure what is going on, but he knows he needs answers which is why he gets into the car with Ravi.” Soon, Vicki finds out some secrets about her brother.
Stephen teased: “Mark is embarrassed that Vicki knows about his criminality, but he’s also angry that she’s got involved. He feels like he is his own man, and Vicki is not his mum, so she needs to be OK with however he chooses to live his life.
“Understandably, she’s not happy with that, but he does also recognise that she does not operate in the world that he does, so he’s always protective of his older sister.” On what’s ahead, he added: “We’ve got lots of drama on the horizon for Mark. High stakes, tricky situations, but he remains mischievous throughout.”
