Emmerdale fans were left stunned recently by Archie Breckle’s transformation – but how old is the actor?
Archie, first played by Adam and Liyana Shahzad, made his first appearance and is the son of Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) and Rachel Breckle (Gemma Oaten).
Rachel went on the run with Archie in January 2014 and returned a year later, resulting in a custody battle between Jai and Rachel. However, Rachel and Archie then left the village again.
Years later in 2019 though, Archie made his village comeback with new actor Kai Assi taking over the role. The teen returned to the Dales after Rachel died from an undisclosed cardiac issue, while Archie was staying at a friend’s house.
That same year, Archie – who now lives with his dad Jai full-time – was involved in a bullying storyline with Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke).
Since then the teen has made several appearances. This week though, Archie was back on screens when he found out about his dad and Kerry Wyatt’s (Laura Norton) romance.
Fans will recall the pair have secretly been seeing each other for several months but have been keeping things under wraps.

However, Archie ended up walked into the room when Kerry started talking about a racy photo she sent to Jai. Realising his son was there Kerry was left cringing.
Nonetheless, viewers watching Emmerdale at home were left with their jaws on the floor following Archie’s appearance, with many left stunned by his transformation.
Fans were left doing a double take
“I thought he’d been recast,” said one person, while another added: “Omg… couldn’t believe that was Archie. He already looked grown up last time we saw him, but he’s changed so quickly. I recognised his face but still had to check the subtitles to make sure it was actually him.”
As expected, attention has now turned to the ages of Archie and actor Kai. The character of Archie was born on December 13th 2012, and is 13 years old. Kai also was born in 2012, making him either 13 or 14 years old.
