Catherine Tyldesley is a Coronation Street legend as Eva Price – but who is her real-life husband?

The actress shot to fame when she joined the soap back in 2011. And it didn’t take her long to become a firm favourite with viewers.

Although Eva said her goodbyes to the street in 2018, seven years later she made her return in October last year to take over the Rovers Return.

And while Eva’s love life on-screen has been rather dramatic the same can’t be said for actress Catherine, who is loved-up with her husband Tom Pitfield. Here, we’re taking a look inside their romance.

Catherine started dating personal trainer Tom Pitfield in January 2014 after meeting at the gym. And things got serious pretty fast as after nine months they announced they were expecting their first child together and quickly got engaged.

Defending her whirlwind relationship with Tom, Catherine told OK! at the time: “No one’s been shocked at how quickly we’ve moved because people can see how happy we are.

“People say when you meet The One you just know. I’ve thought, it doesn’t happen like that, but three months in I knew. We never argue. He makes me laugh until I cry!”

In March 2015, Catherine and Tom welcomed their first child together, a son named Alfie James. Their second child, daughter Iris Ella, was born in 2022.

As for when they tied the knot, on May 21, 2016, Catherine and Tom got married at a lavish ceremony attended by many Coronation Street co-stars.

Tom’s TV fame

Tom

He appeared on an ITV show in 2017

In 2017, Tom had his own moment in the spotlight with a TV role on ITV consumer show Eat, Shop, Save. Tom was the fitness expert on the programme hosted by Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh.

On the show, he worked with different families each week to give his top tips to lead a healthy lifestyle – by making small changes that we all can learn from.

He said: “Each show looks at a different family and breaks down barriers that they may be putting into place to be fit and healthy, things like cost, time, family life. We look at those walls they put up and break them down and show that it can be done regardless of your situation.”

It was also Tom’s first time working in front of the cameras. Talking about the experience he said: “The whole experience has been a new one for me but it’s been nice to get out of the gym and do something different.”

And when asked if Catherine gave him any advice he shared: “It was the first time being in front of the camera so yes she helped me out with a few things, like the way I spoke because of my Wigan accent!”

Tom’s breast cancer scare

In April 2023, Catherine revealed husband Tom Pitfield found a lump in his breast and explained how he didn’t know men could get breast cancer.

Sharing a picture of a male nipple on her Instagram page, she wrote: ” I pondered over whether to share this or not- but I spoke to my husband and he agreed that it was important.

“@tompitfieldphotography recently found a large lump behind his nipple. Naturally, when you find a lump anywhere, as much as you try not to- you worry. After a scan and an ultra sound GP still wasn’t sure what we were dealing with. So Tom needed a biopsy. I myself found a lump a few years ago (thankfully it was nothing) but the breast [email protected] was incredible and extremely thorough.”

She continued: “So I was reassured when Tom was under his care. The wait was painful as always. One of my male pals had breast cancer many years ago. I knew it was rare, but it happens.

“Tom had no idea that men could even get breast cancer. Thankfully Toms results came back and it was a #Gynaecomastia. Which is actually quite common in Men.”

As written on the NHS website, gynaecomastia is a common condition that causes boys’ and men’s breasts to swell and become larger than normal.

Catherine, who plays Eva Price in Corrie, resumed: “We are so relieved. But our experience has made me want to raise awareness about Men’s Breast cancer. It has come to our attention that most men don’t even realise it’s a possibility.

“Yes it’s rare but it’s absolutely worth checking your pecks Fellas!! Symptoms are Same as for women. Most commonly a lump . Could be distortion, bloody nipple discharge. Check your pecs lads! #malebreastcancer #checkyourpecs.” She then went on to thank the NHS and her husband’s surgeon.
