Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks is set to explore a family relationship in Diane Hutchinson’s plan to find a mother figure to her children following her devastating diagnosis.

The Channel 4 soap will air new scenes in Diane’s terminal ovarian cancer story as she intends to set up her husband Tony with her friend Leela Lomax. With a life expectancy of only six months, Diane is determined to entrust her kids to Leela, creating occasions for her and Tony to spend time together.

Next week, Diane asks Leela if she can look after Dee Dee for the night, hoping Tony will notice how brilliant she is with the kids. Amid this sad storyline, Hollyoaks is gearing up to give more screen time to a forgotten family relation as Dee Dee reconnects with her biological aunt Leela, the sister of Dee Dee’s mum Tegan, who passed away in 2018.

In the new scenes, Ro and Ant are arguing over Kathleen-Angel. Diane tells Tony she wants peace in this house and suggests they can rely on Leela for help.

Diane then encourages Tony to take their children out to the cinema with Leela and her children under the guise of them needing some normality, but she has another idea.

Meanwhile, Nancy comes round to keep Diane company.

After the cinema trip, Tony and Leela take the children for lunch at The Loft.

Dee Dee asks Leela what her biological mum Tegan was like, with Leela vowing to be there if she ever needs her. Dee Dee thanks Leela for letting her stay but decides to go back home for her mum.

Later on, Diane confides in Leela and Tony about being scared and feeling her body giving up on her.

Elsewhere, a struggling Ant goes running. When Kathleen-Angel finds him, he breaks down in her arms.
