Caroline Harker has given an insight into Emmerdale villain Dr Todd’s evil ways, and why she’s targeting certain characters.

After weeks of bullying her medical student Jacob Sugden, she’s now tormenting Charity Dingle over her baby lie. Amid a cruel blackmail plot, Todd has also began pursuing a romance with Vanessa Woodfield, Charity’s ex.

As things escalate, Charity warns Vanessa away from Todd. But are Todd’s feelings for Vanessa genuine, or is it all part of her plan to get to Charity, while also ruining Jacob’s life?

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Caroline, who plays Todd, confessed what she really went so far with her torment towards Jacob. She also revealed what the intentions are with Vanessa.

On the Jacob bullying drama, Caroline said: “I think that she just pushes it, pushes it, pushes it, until she’s stopped. And I don’t think she premeditates things, I think she’s quite in the moment, so I think if she gives it a go and Jacob – and it happens and it’s fine, and no one stands up to her, she keeps going.

“So I think it’s sort of just happening more and more in a sort of gradual evolvement. But you’re right, her standards are really high and she wanted Jacob to have those standards too, and that’s how she started off but she didn’t know she was going to go quite as dark as she’s gone.

“I think she’s been affected by her father dying and all that that happened with Jacob as well, that pushed her into different things that she didn’t know she was capable of. But I think she’s enjoying it and no one is stopping her is the feeling. She gives it a go, she’s looking for a match.”

As for Vanessa, Caroline went on: “I think that she doesn’t mean it genuinely in the first place, but between you and me, I think she does. She doesn’t know how to do love and those things. She doesn’t how to do that.

“But actually, I think it is genuine, but the desire to do dodgy things is stronger. Poor old Vanessa!” There could be another target to, as Caroline addressed whether Todd will turn against Manpreet Sharma.

She teased: “Once I’ve got the money. If I get the money, if I get it and I’m living in my house and I get a bit bored, I’ll ask Manpreet round and I’ll move on there. Yeah, I’m not sure. She’d have to find the most exciting thing.”
