Hollyoaks airs unexpected proposal cliffhanger as Mercedes gets huge shock

Mercedes McQueen might be heading for yet another marriage if tonight’s Hollyoaks cliffhanger is anything to go by. Jennifer Metcalfe’s character received an unexpected proposal from Jenson Cole (Ryan Clayton) as tensions between him and Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) continued to escalate.
At the start of the episode, Warren paid a visit to the residential care home, where he refused to leave until he’d seen his brother Spencer. When the nurse was evasive, he asked her outright if Jenson had anything to do with it.

Relenting, the nurse admitted Spencer was not a patient there and never had been — with Jenson indeed taking Warren for a fool.
Warren duly confronted Jenson at The Loft, ordering him to disappear from the village. Jenson responded with ominous words about Mercedes, indicating he had something up his sleeve for that night.
Later, Jenson paid Mercedes a visit at the McQueens’, where, struggling with a headache, she chastised him for letting himself into the house. Watching on his hidden cameras, Warren then saw Jenson planting some kind of package in the kitchen.
Alarmed, the hardman stormed round and ordered Jenson to reveal what was in the package… only for Jenson to reveal a wedding ring, and propose to Mercedes in front of a horrified Warren. But what will her answer be?

It’s been a rollercoaster of a month so far for the Channel 4 soap, with Alex Fletcher’s final scenes as Diane Hutchinson airing last week.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Fletcher opened up on her final days on set before her character passed away, saying: “Kirsty-Leigh [Porter, who plays Leela Lomax] and all the kids were in bits, the camera wasn’t even on them!
“It was special because Nick [Pickard, who plays Tony] and I have been partners in crime for years, I love the bones of him and he’s one of the main reasons I stayed so long. He’s the ultimate professional on set and brings a real energy.”
She added: “I hope Tony doesn’t forget Diane, you know what he’s like – he’ll probably have a new girlfriend in about two weeks, the dirty dog!”
