Major Emmerdale character’s life upside down after devastating death triggers shock revelation
Emmerdale’s Caleb Miligan (William Ash) has always been a bit of a naughty boy, but his latest stunt will see him in the kind of hot water he may finally end up drowning in.
He might be a perpetual naughty boy but he is also someone who is rather slow on the uptake that his own wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) is not someone to be messed with.
Yet here we are, and this time he’s outdone himself in the way that he’s betrayed her – which takes some doing given that on the Ruby scale of backlash, she barely batted an eyelid at his months-long affair with Tracy (Amy Walsh).
Caleb is hiding a huge secret – that Ruby’s mum reached out to him before she died hoping to be reconciled with her daughter. Caleb initially refused, then made a deal for 100 grand to bring the two women together.
Sadly for Helen, she passed away before the deal came off, but not before she’d already signed over the cash.
Did Caleb tell Ruby what had gone down? Did he heck. He’s pocketed the cash and kept it for himself.
He’s even remained quiet as Ruby has shown her surprising anguish at the unresolved issues with her late mum.
But Ruby is about to find out a truth, and it’s not just about the money.
As Helen’s will is read, Caleb is a nervous wreck that she’s about to discover what he’s done. When Ruby reacts with horror to one of the documents, Caleb is sure he’s been rumbled, but there’s another betrayal floating before Ruby’s eyes.
The document reveals that Helen had secretly been in touch with Steph – Caleb and Ruby’s estranged daughter.
Ruby feels utterly lost at this revelation. She finds comfort with Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and shares her gratitude that while her own family is an utter car crash, at least Caleb has given her a link to the Dingles and a new family network. Little does she know what Caleb has really done.
It’s only a matter of time before she finds out about the money, and no doubt this Steph is soon to come out of the woodwork looking for her inheritance. Is Ruby’s life about to implode?
