Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was worrying about daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale as the Dingle family attempted to process the death of their beloved Zak (Steve Halliwell).

Yesterday, Cain (Jeff Hordley) made an early return to the village after visiting Zak in Scotland.

He then popped upstairs for a shower but during this period, Moira received an upsetting call from Debbie, who told her that Zak has died.

In tonight’s episode, Moira told her husband that his dad died about an hour ago after going out poaching.

Despite the fact he knew Zak was ill, the news came as a massive shock to Cain. He listened as Moira relayed Debbie’s words, discovering that Zak had the ‘best morning ever’ and nodded off with a smile on his face.

Cain then knew it was time to tell the rest of the Dingle clan. Moira suggested calling them, but Cain was aware the news had to come from him personally.

With that, he made his way to Wishing Well. Starting with siblings Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Sam (James Hooton), Cain broke the news to them outside after they had spent a morning in the woods together.

The sequence of clips featured music instead of dialogue. Cain visited Charity and Sarah (Katie Hill), Marlon (Mark Charnock) in the pub kitchen, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) at the bar, Mandy (Lisa Riley) and Vinny (Bradley Johnson) in the salon, every single person he saw had a look of utter devastation on their faces – all aware that Zak Dingle’s death has changed the family forever.

The family then retreated to Wishing Well to mourn. As the characters attempted to deal with the news, Charity was trying to make a phone call.

She revealed she was attempting to get hold of Debbie. Zak had been living in Scotland with her, and Charity knew she’d be struggling with the fact she found his body first.

Charity called Debbie time and time again but she didn’t pick up.

Could we receive another update on her before the week ends?

Debbie was last seen in 2021, when she returned to the village to seek revenge on Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).

She teamed up with Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade) to take revenge on the villainous character who’d been seeing them both at the same time.

Before Debbie left a massive rift opened between her and her mum Charity, after Al manipulated Charity into revealing the truth about how Debbie set him up. Following this, Debbie declared that her relationship with her mum was over.

After her departure there were reports that Charley wouldn’t be returning to the role, with a ‘source’ telling the press that ‘Charley is closing the door on Emmerdale for good and won’t be going back’.
