Jacqueline Chadwick has ‘so many questions’ as she denies being asked back to Emmerdale as Tina Dingle
Jacqueline Chadwick has revealed that she was not asked back to Emmerdale to reprise the role of Tina Dingle after fans got in touch with her following the character’s on-screen return.
Tina, who was last in the ITV soap in 1996, made an unexpected comeback on Thursday (October 17) during the funeral of estranged dad Zak Dingle, with actress Samantha Power stepping in to the role.
Previously, the character had been portrayed by Jacqueline Pirie (now Chadwick) between 1994 and 1996. Following her departure from the Dales, Jacqueline went on to star as Linda Sykes in Coronation Street from 1998 to 2001.
Afterwards, she moved to Canada and became an author.
Jacquline still lives in Victoria, Canada, and has written multiple crime novels, centred around a character called Ali Dalglish, an ex-forensic psychologist turned housewife, who finds herself involved in murder cases.
Following Samantha Power’s debut as Tina on Thursday, fans were quick to reach out to Jacqueline.
‘So many questions regarding Tina Dingle’s return,’ she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. ‘Great character, great show. I wish @sampower_sam all the best, I loved playing her, I’m sure she will too, great cast to be a part of. and, no… they didn’t ask me #emmerdale #tinadingle #dingle.’
Former Ackley Bridge star Samantha responded, writing: ‘Thanks so much Jacqueline! Very kind xxx,’ with Jacqueline adding that she hopes the Emmerdale newcomer will have ‘bags of fun’.
The Dingles were left in shock when Tina turned up at Zak’s funeral, making it quite clear that she wanted to get her hands on Wishing Well.
Thankfully, Zak had made a will, which he trusted to Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick), who confirmed that the patriarch had left the property to his children who currently reside in the village.
As for what the future holds for Tina, we’ll just have to wait and see but it’s quite clear that she means to cause chaos!
