Former Coronation Street star Peter Ash reunited with his soap family following a devastating storyline.

The actor’s character Paul Foreman was diagnosed with motor neurone disease shortly after a road collision. Since then, the audience of the ITV soap have watched a heartbreaking journey as Paul’s MND slowly consumed him.

The 39-year-old recently reunited with actress Harriet Bibby who plays Summer Spellman and former onscreen husband Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew).

Posting an image of the three to Instagram alongside his boyfriend Jordan Coulthard, actor Daniel penned: ‘TV family night out raising awareness and funds for #Mnd’.

Last month, Paul’s life sadly came to an end. In the powerful episode, Billy set off out of Weatherfield to search for his phone after losing it on a night out. With Paul under Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) and Summer’s care, disaster struck when they realised Paul was unresponsive.

They raced to the hospital and at the same time, desperately tried to get hold of Billy. Once this happened, Billy ran to the hospital hoping to see Paul for one final moment.

Sadly, Billy got there after his husband had died.

Speaking of his final scenes, Peter continued: ‘It was quite hard to not get emotional during that scene where they’re all there giving all those beautiful goodbyes.’

‘I had to pretend to not hear it, pretty much. Especially when he does pass, it’s that thing of trying not to breathe at all, which gets a bit tricky after a while!

‘The scene in general was just beautiful. It was a really nice way to end it. I’m not going to give anything away apart from that but it was great to have all the favourites there in my last scene.’
