Metro readers decide the best ever Gail Platt moment in Coronation Street – and there’s a clear winner
Gail Platt (Helen Worth) has had some iconic moments over the years in Coronation Street, and now Metro readers have chosen their favourite.
This week has seen the soap stalwart’s health take a turn for the worse after she suffered another heart attack, leaving her family and viewers concerned.
It comes ahead of her exit after 50 years on the ITV soap, during which time she has been involved in some high profile storyline.
When Metro asked Coronation Street fans on Reddit what their favourite Gail Platt moments were, there was a clear winner, receiving 24 upvotes from other fans in agreement.
‘Her fight with Eileen,’ the comment said.
Viewers will know that Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and Gail are sworn enemies, and have fallen out more than once.
The pair have had their fair share of fist fights over the years, normally in defence of their kids, and fans absolutely love it.
With Gail now involved with Eileen’s ex-boyfriend Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson), could we be set to see another of their infamous fights?
Fans also recalled other iconic moments from Gail’s tenure, including the Richard Hillman storyline, which saw Gail and the Platts driven into the canal by her serial killer husband.
Another fan recalled her emotional monologue after Aidan Connor’s (Shayne Ward) suicide, citing it as ‘a reminder of how strong an actress Helen Worth is’.
There was also a lot of love for her involvement in Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) teenage pregnancy storyline.
‘She was also absolutely fantastic throughout the Sarah teen pregnancy storyline,’ one fan wrote. ‘I think she was a large part of what made the nation captivated with it at the time.’
And of course, fans will never forget the time she was ‘on pills, for God’s sake!’.
