Major Hollyoaks star set to return after 10 years – with ‘a lot to uncover’
Hollyoaks have confirmed that Danny Mac is set to reprise his role as Dodger Savage.
The actor, 36, originally played Dodger between 2011 and 2015.
It’s now understood that he’s returned to filming and will be part of the Channel 4 soap’s regular cast.
The character will undoubtedly be returning with questions about his parentage, given twin-sister Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) recently learnt that her estranged uncle Jez (Jeremy Sheffield) was actually her father.
In a twist that divided Hollyoaks fans, we learnt that evil Patrick (also played by Sheffield) was not the daddy – therefore undoing several years of Sienna justifying her actions as being a chip off the old block.
Passey teased the return in an Instagram post last night, writing ‘No comment’ alongside a photo of herself, Danny, Jeremy and executive producer Hannah Cheers in a restaurant.
The official Hollyoaks account replied with some eye emojis, whilst one fan added: ‘Did I wake up in 2013?’
Another fan enthused: ‘STOP IT DOES THIS MEAN WHAT I THINK IT MEANS??!!’
The news was officially confirmed this morning, with a post on Oaks’ socials reading: ‘Welcome back to the village @dannymaconline #Hollyoaks.’
On his comeback, Danny said: ‘After a decade away, I’m thrilled to be returning and reuniting with my incredible co-stars, old friends and a character very close to my heart.
‘Dodger escaped, leaving a great deal behind. I’ve always wondered whether he could return and who he might have become in the 10 years since he ran away.
‘Now that he’s back, there’s a lot to uncover, but one way or another, we will finally find out.’
His reappearance after a decade will also coincide with Sherrie Hewson reprising her role as Martha Blake.
Dodger was involved in some of the soap’s biggest storylines during his initial stint, including the discovery that he was adopted – and had fathered a daughter, Nico, with Sienna before learning they were siblings.
He had another child, Myra-Pocahontas, with Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) and will undoubtedly want to reunite with her.
Danny also filmed huge stunt scenes in a train crash story in 2014, and his exit story saw him flee the country after taking the blame for Nico’s crimes.
Since his departure we’ve seen him take to the Strictly ballroom alongside Oti Mabuse, appeared in Sky supermarket-based sitcom Trollied and also had guest roles in BBC daytime soap Doctors.
