Kat Mitchell’s (Jessie Wallace) life falls apart in EastEnders next week following her family’s intervention.

Earlier this week we saw Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) consumed with guilt after reporting Tommy (Sonny Kendall) to social services, having heard about the abuse he’d been inflicting on her.

After realising that she would have to come clean, a huge row broke out in The Queen Vic between the two women and Kat was left wounded knowing that everyone was aware of Jean’s decision.

With Tommy temporarily living with Zack Hudson (James Farrar), his future hangs in the balance after a meeting with social services next week.

In upcoming scenes, Kat is still reluctant to talk to Jean and Stacey (Lacey Turner), with Alfie (Shane Richie) begging them to call a truce.

After telling a fib to Kat, she arrived at the pub and realises she’s been hoodwinked into meeting the women that she believes have betrayed her. However, Alfie makes an impassioned speech and before long the clan reconcile.

It seems the gesture actually works, and she admits to him that she’s grateful for his intervention. Their obvious chemistry is noticed by Freddie (Bobby Brazier), and Alfie admits he still has feelings for his ex-wife.

Unaware how to approach the situation, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) offers some much-needed advice about how to brush the awkwardness to one side.

When the meeting with the social care team arrives, it’s obvious that Tommy is reluctant to return home and the frosty atmosphere leaves Kat fearing that her once close-knit family will never be together again.

The social worker says that they can form a plan to get Tommy home, but will he be willing?

Alfie tells their son that they desperately want him back for Christmas, and his words manage to break Tommy’s tough façade slightly – with proceedings ending on a more positive note.

Later, Kat’s gratitude results in her surprising Alfie with a kiss!

As the week goes on, Stacey offers her take on the blossoming relationship whilst Ian and Freddie continue to counsel Alfie.

Will a ‘Kalfie’ reunion work out, and will Tommy’s behaviour improve?
