Former Coronation Street star Paddy Wallace has a surprising second job – but still keeps in touch with one of the actors.

The actor, 45, played Mary Taylor’s (Patti Clare) son Jude Appleton between 2016 and 2019.

After being abandoned on the doorstep of a hospital by his mother when he was a baby, she later traced him down to South Africa and the family moved to Weatherfield.

Jude was later revealed to be a serial liar – telling wife Angie (Victoria Ekanoye) that he was a marine biologist, when he actually worked in the gift shop of a sea life attraction and wore a snazzy shark shaped hat.

Mary later tracked him down to Blackpool, where he was living a double life as an Irish surgeon called ‘Dr Ken Barlow’. He asked her for £800 to settle a bed and breakfast bill, but later fled with the money.

Now, 5 years on from his exit, Paddy has a very different side job.

Whilst continuing to act, he is also Head of Sales at The Furniture Show.

Undoubtedly he will be gearing up for a busy few months, as the trade show returns to Birmingham’s NEC in January.

Last month, he shared a sweet reunion with his on-screen mum on Instagram.

The picture, which showed him and actress Patti Clare with his children was captioned: ‘A lovely morning catching up with my wonderful pal and other Mum! Inimitable @patti.clark5 x’

Toyah Battersby star Georgia Taylor wrote: ‘Oh I love this!!’, whilst Victoria Ekanoye added: ‘This is everything.’

Since leaving the Street, he’s had roles in Netflix crime thriller film I Came By, and a recent edition of BBC continuing drama Casualty.
