Summer confronted by strange man and a deadly situation unfolds in Coronation Street
Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) remains terribly worried about dad Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) in Coronation Street as he spirals in the aftermath of Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) death.
Paul died in September after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease. Despite knowing the MND would take his husband’s life, the grief has hit Billy hard – and things aren’t getting any easier for him just yet.
In upcoming episodes of the ITV soap, Summer returns home and finds a strange man in the flat.
She’s on edge, and even more so when Billy admits he invited the man – Wayne – back after meeting him at the addicts group.
In the week, a depressed Billy tells Summer that he’s not sure he can face the celebrations today at the pub.
He then knocks back a whiskey and makes his way over there.
Just as everyone watches Paul’s ashes get released, the screen suddenly goes blank. It then becomes apparent a drunk and emotional Billy has pulled the lead from the laptop.
Completely overwhelmed, he declares the event a farce, and then confesses he made a pass at Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) after Paul’s funeral.
Billy then leaves the pub and heads off all alone. After drinking more booze, he finds himself sitting on a crate behind the factory. Drunk and freezing cold, Billy closes his eyes after listening to old voice clips from Paul.
By this point, a very worried Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) has gone in search of her in-law.
Finding him frozen to the core, Bernie does her best to get Billy some help – but has she arrived in time?
