Concerned Coronation Street stars share love as Simon Gregson suffers illness
Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has received a lot of love from his co-stars after opening up about his recent illness.
The Steve McDonald actor was due to take part in Sotheby’s London to Brighton veteran car run – the world’s largest gathering of veteran cars, where participants can’t exceed an average of 20 miles per hour.
However, things took a turn for the worse for the actor when his car broke down halfway through – and that wasn’t the only thing that went wrong.
In a video posted to Instagram, Simon explained that he had been struck down by man-flu.
‘Car didn’t make it, which is fortuitous because neither have I, I am full of man-flu,’ he said.
‘I thought I could make it, I couldn’t so I’m tucked up in a very nice hotel where I am going to sleep and hopefully be alright.’
Simon’s on-screen daughter, Amy Barlow star Elle Mulvaney, was quick to offer her well wishes in the comments, writing: ‘Feel better soon.’
‘Ah gutted you didn’t make it. Get well soon,’ Cassie Plummer actress Claire Sweeney added.
Fans were also quick to offer their support, with one writing: ‘Get well soon there Simon!’
‘Feel better quickly!’ Another added, while a third penned: ‘I hope you feel better soon.’
Simon’s Corrie alter-ego has been very busy in recent weeks, after employing Cassie Plummer as Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) carer.
When Cassie went on a disastrous date, Steve swept in and saved the day, and the pair ended up in bed together.
However, things took a turn when Steve learnt that Ken had come into a substantial sum of money, and accused Cassie of being a gold-digger.
Will they be able to get their friendship back on track, or has that ship sailed?
