Coronation Street legend arrested and charged with murder as unexpected confession is made

Coronation Street’s local detective constable Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has finally charged someone for Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) murder after an unexpected confession.
Earlier this week, he was left stunned when new evidence came to light which revealed that he had been chasing the wrong murder weapon all this time – though this new find wielded a lot more clues.
After finding DS Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) CS spray alongside a large rock, which was determined to be the weapon that killed Joel, Kit arrested her and subjected her to a rigorous interrogation.
Upon her release, Lisa confided in Carla Connor (Alison King) that she believed she was being framed by Joel’s killer, and she was terrified that more planted evidence would turn up.
Having spotted Lauren Bolton and Max Turner (Cait Fitton and Paddy Bever) carrying what she believed was Joel’s suitcase on the night of his death, Carla confronted the pair, concerned that they were involved.
Though the youngsters kept up their story that they were planning to do a runner to evade Joel, Carla remained unconvinced, and reported them to the police, before informing Lisa and Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) of her actions.
It was then that Lisa recalled visiting Lauren before Joel’s death, pointing out that she could have lifted the CS spray out of her bag.
However, when Kit and Lisa arrived at the hospital to question them, it became clear that they had done a runner.
Lauren and Max decided to hide out in Joel’s old flat, certain that they wouldn’t be found there.
As Lauren lamented leaving Frankie to go on the run, Max persuaded her to bring him along, sending her out of the flat to buy some things for him.
Little did she know, Max had a plan to hand himself in for the crime.
After confessing to Kit that he had murdered Joel, Max revealed how he had confronted him using Lisa’s CS spray, only to have been overpowered by Joel, who strangled him while holding him over the edge of a bridge.
Max recalled how he picked up a rock and hit Joel with it, before pushing his body into the river below and running off with his suitcase.
Having heard Max’s confession, Kit decided to charge him with Joel’s murder. But is this the end of the ordeal?
Back at Dee-Dee’s flat, Lisa quizzed Lauren on Max’s actions, asking if she had anything to do with Joel’s death.
Lauren insisted that she didn’t, before admitting that she suspected something strange was going on but had kept quiet because she loved Max.
Lisa, still furious from being wrongly accused, appeared unconvinced, but is she right to be suspicious?
