Hollyoaks has revealed Tony Hutchinson’s new scheme, after his ex-wife Diane told a major lie.
Diane has been hurt by Tony’s new relationship with Marie, but she has accepted that he has moved on and this week, she even suggested that the pair go on a date.
Ro has made it clear that he isn’t impressed by his dad’s romance, and he wasn’t happy as he watched him get ready for the date.
At school, Ro and Arlo were both annoyed at the chatter about their parents going on a date, and when Arlo revealed that he had brought in a bottle of wine, Ro agreed to drink it with him.
Things didn’t end well, as when Arlo made sure that Ro was caught sleeping in class, John Paul was shocked to discover the wine in Ro’s bag.
With Diane called in to the school, she tried to get in touch with Tony, but he was too busy with Marie and had turned his phone on silent.
When he eventually realised and returned home, he found Diane clutching the bottle of wine confiscated from Ro – and he assumed that Diane had relapsed.
As he hugged her in support, Diane decided not to correct Tony and let him believe that the wine was hers and not Ro’s.
In scenes that will air next week, Tony continues to support Diane as she keeps up the pretence that she relapsed, and Ro overhears her lie.
Diane admits that she did this to try and win Tony back, but Ro insists that she needs to tell Tony the truth.
Later, Tony remarks to Mercedes that he will always be there for Diane even though they are divorced, and he decides to invite his ex-wife for a meal for two.
Diane is hopeful as she sets up for their dinner, but she gets a huge shock when there’s a plus one for the meal – Marie!
How will Diane react, and will she be able to properly make amends with her friend?
