David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) took unexpected action in tonight’s Coronation Street to try and keep his misdeeds a secret from Shona Platt (Julia Goulding).
Shona was left devastated in recent scenes when she learnt that son Clayton had tried to take his own life in prison.
Unbeknown to her, Clayton had been trying to reach out to her, but had been blocked by David, who went to extreme lengths to stop contact.
In tonight’s episode, Shona realised that an email from the prison had ended up in her junk folder, which left her totally horrified.
Worried that she would work out what he’d done, David turned to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) for advice.
Nick pointed out that she would likely find out the truth eventually, so it would be better for David to just admit that he had been deleting the emails.
However, when the time came to have that conversation with Shona, David took an unexpected and quite frankly cruel angle.
He pointed out that she was still suffering symptoms of her brain injury, like forgetting where she’d put things and leaving her keys in the door.
As he was speaking, Shona realised that he thought she’d put the email in her junk folder herself – and she believed him.
David assured her that they’d keep an eye on her condition, before later revealing what he’d done to Nick.
