Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) already feels guilty for falling in love with her sister’s partner in Coronation Street, but that emotion increases tenfold when Leanne (Jane Danson) presents her with a really thoughtful gift.
Toyah and Nick (Ben Price) started sleeping with each other when Leanne was in the middle of The Institute storyline. The two characters grew close, but reached a conclusion that they should end things before Leanne found out.
Unfortunately, because it’s a soap, things were never going to be that simple.
After Leanne discovered Toyah and Nick’s betrayal, the two characters realised they didn’t want to ignore their feelings for each other. As it stands, they’re continuing their relationship in secret, but hope to gently break the news to Leanne soon.
Coming up, Nick tells Toyah that he’s got a plan; they break their news to Leanne and then go on holiday, allowing her time to process their relationship alone.
When Leanne then presents Toyah with a rose bush and suggests they plant it next to Oliver’s tree in memory of her late daughter Rose, Toyah’s touched.
Just as Nick steals himself to come clean to Leanne about Toyah, he’s completely taken aback by the arrival of a police officer, who breaks the news that Les Battersby has died had work.
Reeling from the shock, Leanne heads out to find Toyah, but fails to spot Nick making a call to warn her.
As the siblings hug, Leanne realises Toyah already knew about Les. When she admits that Nick called her, Leanne is left puzzled.
Questioning Nick, Leanne is suspicious when he says he called Toyah about the rota and the news of Les’ death just slipped out. To make matters worse, Toyah then leaps to Nick’s defence and Leanne is left wondering what is going on.
That evening, Leanne opens Nick’s laptop and finds the Tenerife booking.
She calls the hotel, but is this the moment she finds out Nick and Toyah are together?
