Shona makes a shocking mistake that could cost her everything in Coronation Street
In an upcoming Coronation Street episode, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) opens up to her boss Roy Cropper (David Neilson) about something that’s on her mind. She’s done something she deeply regrets, she tells him. But what is it?
The Platts have been through an incredibly difficult time recently. Beginning with Bethany (Lucy Fallon) almost dying due to botched surgery abroad, Gail (Helen Worth) was left with little option but to sell her house to pay for Bethany’s medical bills and the cost of bringing her home to Weatherfield.
Facing the loss of their home, the rest of the Platts were further rocked when Gail revealed she was in a relationship with Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson). Following a heart attack brought on in part by stress over the house, Gail proposed to Jesse and they plan to get married soon.
Meanwhile, David (Jack P Shepherd) was rocked by news that his son Max (Paddy Bever) had been arrested for the murder of Joel Deering (Calum Lill) after handing himself in.
And as if that wasn’t enough, David realised that Shona’s son Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison) was trying to contact her from prison. Clayton killed David’s late wife Kylie and he and Shona previously agreed they would have no contact with him.
David went to the prison and told Clayton that Shona wanted nothing to do with him. Later Shona was devastated to hear that her son had tried to take his own life.
It’s a lot, and the rift between David and Shona deepens when she tells him she’s desperate to see Clayton and he’s unsympathetic. Eventually Shona insists that she will go and see her son whether David likes it or not.
In the following days the couple have a meeting with the prison governor, who reveals that Clayton issued two visiting orders, one of which was taken up as Clayton had a visitor just before his suicide attempt.
Despite his efforts to gloss over the truth, Shona is suspicious that he was the person who visited Clayton. David manages to cover, but later admits to Max that he did visit Clayton, but Shona must never know.
Steve (Simon Gregson) tells them that he’s just driven Shona to the prison and they hurry after her, finding her in the middle of a massive argument with the governor. She loses her temper and gives the governor a violent shove.
In the wake of this, Shona doesn’t come home that night and David is frantic with worry about her.
And when she finally reappears back in the Street, that’s when she confides in Roy that she’s done something really bad.
What can it be? Where did she go the night she didn’t come home?
