Coronation Street confirms legend’s fate after brain surgery – with more heartache to come

Carla Connor (Alison King) has pulled through brain surgery in Coronation Street after being attacked at the factory earlier this week.
The fate of the Underworld boss was revealed during Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap, which also hinted there was more drama ahead for her and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).
As fans know, the pair finally gave into passion last week after months of bubbling chemistry – but new their friendship had perhaps turned into something more did not go down well with Lisa’s teenage daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin).
As payback, she handed the keys of the factory to Matty and Logan Radcliffe for them to rob the place, Carla was attacked after she was unexpectedly there at the time.
After being rushed to hospital, she underwent surgery to relieve a bleed on the brain.
On Wednesday, Carla awoke from her operation and slowly started to piece the events of the previous night together, remembering she locked up before she was attacked – meaning someone must have had a set of keys and let themselves in before the incident.
She quickly deduced that Betsy must have had something to do with it, and when the guilty teen later paid her a visit in hospital, she eventually confessed her role in the robbery.
As Betsy begged her to keep quiet, Carla said she would be telling her mum – and was given prime opportunity to do so when Lisa later called by the hospital.
However, Carla had a change of heart when Lisa broke down in tears, revealing she’d become suspicious that someone else was involved in the death of her wife Becky.
Fans had seen earlier in the episode how Matty Logan hinted he was somehow involved in her death when he was brought in for questioning over the factory robbery.
By the end of the episode, Lisa was determined to get Matty locked up – but little does she know both Carla and Betsy are both keeping secrets that could stop her getting to the truth.
