Emmerdale character receives terminal cancer diagnosis as he breaks sad news to his family
Emmerdale’s Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) shared upsetting news with granddaughter Steph (Georgia Jay), revealing that he’s been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The patriarch, who made his debut in the ITV soap earlier this month, left the eponymous village after exchanging words with daughter Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly), who ordered him to go.
But Friday’s (November 29) edition of the serial drama saw him stage an unexpected return, as he arrived at Mill Cottage to break the news to Steph.
Steph was left reeling, giving her granddad a hug as he explained that he’d been undergoing tests recently but received the definitive diagnosis of prostate cancer while he was away in Portsmouth.
live with it, with Steph determined to make the most of every second with him.
The diagnosis has left the newcomer determined to make things right with daughter Ruby, who was left beside herself when she crossed paths with him a few weeks ago for the first time in over three decades.
Steph informed Caleb Miligan (William Ash) of Anthony’s diagnosis, with the businessman wasting little time in accompanying her back to Mill Cottage to see how Ruby was processing the news.
Ruby remained quiet and distracted herself with some cleaning.
Caleb and Steph were insistent that she make things right with Anthony before it’s too late but Ruby reiterated that she doesn’t think she’ll be able to do so.
What is it that’s on Ruby’s mind? Will she be able to open up to her loved ones?
