Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly issues warning to fans: ‘Please be careful!’
Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly has issued a warning to fans after very nearly falling victim to a scam.
The star, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan in the show, often updates her Instagram with videos and pictures that detail her life away from Emmerdale, as well as filming for the soap.
Recently, she updated her Instagram Stories with a video pleading to fans to keep an eye out for scams, which are often topic of many conversations around the festive period.
She said: ‘Please watch out for scammers. There are so many I’m getting about three a day coming into my emails about postal stuff, Amazon Prime – I almost got scammed yesterday, I almost got taken in by an email saying “your Amazon Prime needs updating!”. It wasn’t, it was a scam. Be careful’.
This comes days after Beth’s co-star Lisa Riley shared a message on her social media, slamming a fake advert for diet pills using her name and pictures.
The actress, who plays Mandy Dingle on the ITV soap, warned fans not to believe the advert, which she says she received many messages about this week.
Alerting people to the ad, which claimed she had launched a ‘no-gym pill’, Lisa shared a screenshot on social media.
It featured two pictures of her and suggested the pills had helped her lose weight – something Lisa was quick to set the record straight about.
‘FAKE FAKE FAKE,’ she wrote in a post on X and Instagram.
‘I’ve had so many messages this week regarding this post! If they have placed my name with anything it’s FAKE! I’m surprised anyone ever believes anything anymore!!
Lisa urged fans who spotted the ad to ‘please block and report’, adding: ‘‘It’s not true, it’s not me, it’s faker than fake, and keeps being FAKE!!!’.
Ruby’s life in the Emmerdale village was shaken a few weeks ago when her daughter Steph (Georgia Jay) arrived, quickly followed by Ruby’s dad Anthony (Nicholas Day).
Ruby was incredibly on edge around Anthony, but it was only a few days ago we came to understand why.
In a serious of flashback scenes, we met a 16-year-old Ruby at her birthday party. She was friends with a lad called Rob, who Anthony wanted Ruby to date.
After Ruby’s friends left the house party, Anthony returned to her room and revealed her mum had gone out.
In a horrifying scene, it was then confirmed Anthony had been sexually abusing Ruby, and she’s kept the ordeal a secret ever since.
