Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) finds himself caught up in Hope Stape’s (Isabella Flanagan) troublesome plan again in Coronation Street soon, and this time it involves an injured Weatherfield resident.

As 2025 gets underway, Mason (Luca Toolan) will make plans to leave the cobbles and escape his brothers.

Meanwhile, after Kit (Jacob Roberts) questions Matty and Logan about the WWII helmet, their anger grows and they decide to go in search of their sibling.

Finding Dylan (Liam McCheyne) and Mason, the brothers give chase and catch Mason before attacking him. Moments later, Abi (Sally Carman) finds Mason bleeding from a stab wound in the precinct. She pulls off her scarf and does her best to stem the flow of the blood.

Eventually, an ambulance arrives and Asha (Tanisha Gorey) helps take Mason to hospital.

‘We know we’re tackling a sensitive storyline, and it’s going to be very hard-hitting’, producer Kate Brooks said.

‘We have Mason at the centre of it and Dylan and Betsy are involved. It has massive ramifications for Abi, and for Tim and Sally going forward.

‘We just felt like it was a subject that we couldn’t ignore. It has big consequences for people going forward, and it isn’t a subject matter that we tackle lightly. It’s an important one to talk about and let young people know that carrying a bladed article is not the way.

‘It’s a real community story and a shocking one – I love the shock storytelling tactics. I think they work and they keep people guessing.

‘We’re telling the story in a very interesting way. It’s not your usual linear storytelling. It’s different and it’s bold, but I think it’s really impactful how we’re telling it.’

In the week, Joseph hears Asha telling Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) that a hoax phone call delayed the ambulance from getting to Mason. Feeling guilty, Joseph makes his way to the station and tells Kit he made the call.

Back at home, Craig (Colson Smith) updates Chesney (Sam Aston) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell), revealing what Joseph has told them.

Just as Craig leaves, Joseph admits that the call was actually Hope’s idea.

Towards the end of the week, Gemma says that Joseph will be let off with a youth caution for making the hoax call. This leaves Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) sympathetic, fully aware the prank was Hope’s plan.

But will she confess the truth, or let Joseph take the fall?
