Iconic Weatherfield couple reunite after one-night stand in Coronation Street
An iconic Coronation Street couple have agreed to put their differences aside after a one-night stand almost tore their marriage apart.
David and Shona Platt (Jack P Shepherd and Julia Goulding) have been on the rocks ever since David took extreme measures to stop Shona from seeing her son Clayton, though their relationship was very nearly shattered completely when Shona’s one-night stand with DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) was exposed.
Shona was so devastated to learn of David’s deception, and the way he’d used her brain injury to gaslight her and stop her discovering the truth about Clayton’s situation, that she was determined to hurt him in return.
This came in the form of a one-night stand with the detective constable – something she came to regret almost immediately.
It didn’t take long for David to begin to suspect that something was amiss, though his suspicions fell on former brother-in-law Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), who had offered Shona a bed for the night after an argument with David.
On Christmas morning, David’s fears were realised when he didn’t receive the bottle of aftershave he was expecting from his wife – and when she later complimented Adam’s cologne, all hell broke loose.
When David’s confrontation with Adam resulted in the solicitor taking a tumble down a staircase, Shona finally admitted her infidelity, but insisted that Adam wasn’t the culprit.
It didn’t take long for David to work out that Kit was the other man, and a vicious feud has been brewing between them ever since.
With David furious at Shona’s betrayal, he had demanded that she move out of the family home – something that she outright refused to do.
In a bid to keep things as normal as possible for the family, Shona suggested a New Year’s Eve game night, and made sure to invite David, who reluctantly accepted.
However, it was clear that his mind was elsewhere, as he mulled over a conversation he’d had with Kit earlier in the day.
Earlier this year, David was targeted by Matty and Logan Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff and Harry Lowbridge), who had been instructed by dangerous gangster Harvey Gaskell to retrieve the money David had stolen from him.

As a favour to Shona, Kit had warned the lads off, but with the feud between him and David hotting up, Kit withdrew his warning and informed the Radcliffe brothers that they were free to go after their money.
Kit revelled in revealing this to David, who was left on edge, knowing that his family was once again a target.
When Shona later headed outside to take the bins out, David was startled by what sounded like a gunshot, and was relieved when Shona came back inside unharmed, pointing out that it was just a firework.
Realising that he couldn’t bear to lose her, David asked Shona to stay, and she was quick to agree.
The pair decided to put what had happened in the past and move on with their marriage – but will it be easier said than done?
