A huge development! (Picture: ITV)

2025 will be the year of change for the Winter-Brown family in Coronation Street, as their money woes look set to finally disappear.

Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Chesney (Sam Aston) are parents to the quads and Joseph (William Flanagan). They work multiple jobs and also rely on money from Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) just to ensure they have enough food for their children, and a warm home.

They are careful with every single penny that goes into their accounts but soon, everything will change for them.

Following the death of Les Battersby (Bruce Jones), Bernie told Chesney he should do some digging into the abattoir where he worked.

Leanne and Toyah (Jane Danson and Georgia Taylor) got the news that dad Les had been killed in an accident at work, and were left shaken by the sudden loss.

They then attended his will reading, where it was revealed that the abattoir Les was working at when he died was willing to pay the sisters and Chesney a share of £50k – provided they signed an NDA.

During Les’ wake, Chesney was approached by a man who worked alongside Les, who insisted he owed it to the classic character to tell his family the truth.

As the man revealed that the company had previously cut corners when it came to health and safety, leading to several serious injuries in the past, he explained that he believed there was a cover-up going on.

In upcoming episodes, Chesney will receive a cheque through the post for £20k by way of compensation for Les’s death.

It’s a huge moment for the family and Gemma can’t believe it. She says they should go for a celebratory drink, but how will Chesney feel about having a massive sum of cash, as a result of a devastating death?
