Dead Coronation Street character stages shock return as he plagues a loved one
Abi Webster (Sally Carman) becomes haunted by Mason Radcliffe’s (Luca Toolan) death in Coronation Street.
In the episode of the ITV soap which aired last night, Abi found Mason in the precinct after being stabbed by his feral brother. She used her scarf to try and stem the flow of blood, and sat with Betsy (Sydney Martin) as Mason was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
Unfortunately, Mason’s injuries were too severe, and he died while in A&E.
The traumatic ordeal will remind Abi of the way she lost her son Seb Franklin. He died in hospital after being attacked by a gang.
As the aftermath unfolds, Toyah (Georgia Taylor) finds Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and admits she’s deeply concerned for Abi and reckons she needs some professional help.
At home, Abi tries to tell Kevin that she’s coping and doesn’t need any counselling. When she’s alone, however, Abi relives Mason’s final moments in her head, tortured by the experience.
In the week, Debbie (Sue Devaney) pops by and finds her brother stressed. Curious, Debbie is worried when Kevin reveals he’s found a lump.
Knowing he needs to talk to Abi, Kevin finds her in the memorial garden, but then realises she is talking to Seb.
As Kevin hides his secret, so does Abi. She continues having visions of Seb and keeps Alfie at home and out of harms way by revealing he’s got a cold.
Meanwhile, Kevin visits Doctor Gaddas, who refers him for tests.
As Kevin returns, he finds Abi and Alfie asleep on the sofa. He takes Alfie upstairs but when Debbie arrives, Abi wakes up and accuses Debbie of stealing her son.
The chaotic situation leads to Kevin blurting out that he might have testicular cancer.
Reeling in shock, Abi heads to the café and opens up to Roy (David Neilson). There, she reveals she’s been suffering flashbacks of Seb’s final moments and hearing his voice.
But will Abi tell Kevin and get help?
