Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) secretly heads to meet his dad Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) once more in Coronation Street soon, but his life his put in danger when he gets caught up in a hostage situation.

When Bobby arrived in Weatherfield last year, Carla Connor (Alison King) was stunned to discover Rob had become a dad.

Carla’s brother has been in prison ever since he murdered Tina McIntyre, played by Michelle Keegan. In upcoming episodes, Rob will make a return as Bobby heads to the prison – but faces an unexpected shock while he’s there.

When Bobby sits down to see Rob, he listens as his dad says he’s found religion and would like to donate a kidney to Carla if he’s a match.

However, the conversation is cut short when across the visiting room, Matty Radcliffe – the brother of Mason – pulls out a knife and Bobby finds himself in a hostage ordeal.

Back on the cobbles, having heard about the ongoing hostage situation from Lisa (Vicky Myers) and discovered Bobby is visiting Rob, Carla tells Betsy (Sydney Martin) that her brother is a murderer.

Discussing the dynamic between Rob and his son Bobby, actor Marc told us: ‘I think that, as we’ve seen in the past, family means the world to Rob. It’s not necessarily an easy relationship for him, given again, the difficult upbringing. But you know, blood is thicker than water, and he likes to have a good relationship with his family. He loves his family to the core.

‘But with that, with the type of person that he is, it just brings difficulties as well.’

He teased: ‘Bobby comes to visit and there is an escalation of a situation which involves Matty Radcliffe and all is not as it seems in the actual moment. But at the same time, Rob doesn’t really want to see Bobby in turmoil or in danger in any way, shape or form.

‘Whether he’s truly in danger, is to be seen, because there is something else that’s happening in the background at the same time, but what that is can’t be revealed until it unfolds on screen.’
