Bethany’s exit story confirmed in Coronation Street – as she takes someone with her?
With Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon expecting her second child soon, her character Bethany Platt will soon be leaving Weatherfield. But will she be leaving the street on her own, or taking someone with her?
Bethany has been through some tough times recently after botched cosmetic surgery in Turkey left her with life-threatening sepsis. She survived the medical emergency, but was told she would need a permanent stoma bag.
She’s had difficulties coming to terms with this huge change in her life, both in terms of how she feels about her body and in practical terms, too. The first time she ventured out to the Rovers she was left humiliated when her bag leaked, and she decided she could no longer wear her nicest clothes.
Her relationship with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) also suffered as he seemed to be constantly saying or doing the wrong thing and making Bethany feel worse as much as he tried to support her.
Recently they’ve become engaged, but Daniel is hiding the guilty secret that he slept with former girlfriend Daisy Midgley (Charlotte Jordan) not long before Christmas. Even worse, Daisy is pregnant and doesn’t currently know whether the father of the baby is Daniel or Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
In upcoming episodes Bethany’s insecurities about Daniel are to the fore again when it’s his son Bertie’s birthday and Daisy comes to the rescue by making a cake when the bakery lets Daniel down.
But there’s good career news for journalist Bethany when she’s offered her dream job on a magazine in London. Bethany previously lived in London but her journalism career didn’t really get off the ground like she hoped it would. This news really is a dream come true for her and could signal the fresh start that she badly needs.
The problem is, she’s unsure about how Daniel will react.
She talks to Daisy, who insists that Daniel will be delighted for her and will welcome the move to London.
Buoyed by Daisy’s positivity, Bethany heads to the cafe to tell Daniel her news. Will he be as delighted as Daisy predicted? And how will he feel about a potential move to London?
Will he be ready to join her in her new life, or could Bethany be leaving Weatherfield on her own again?
