Coronation Street confirms who made hoax call that delayed paramedics saving Mason
Coronation Street spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (January 8) episode, which can now be viewed on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 at 8pm.
Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) was beside himself when he overheard Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) discussing a hoax emergency call, which delayed the ambulance in getting to Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) on time.
Mason, as viewers know, was stabbed by his brothers Logan and Matty during a scuffle at the precinct. The teen was left bleeding out on the floor, with Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) doing everything she could to save him.
An ambulance was delayed in getting to the scene after receiving a 999 hoax call, with paramedic Asha talking about such a thing in the wake of Mason’s tragic death.
Joseph overheard the conversation and was left devastated as he headed to the police station to confess that he and Hope (Isabella Flanagan) made the phone call in question.
The revelation sent shockwaves through the cobbles, with Asha reiterating to Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) that, had the ambulance not been delayed in getting to the scene, Mason could have been saved.
Joseph was riddled with guilt and he and Hope subsequently apologised to Abi, who was struggling in the wake of trying to save Mason, with the ordeal having brought back memories of Seb’s (Harry Visinoni) tragic death over three years ago.
Joseph wasn’t the only one questioned by the police over Mason’s demise, with Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) arrested on suspicion of murder after Sean Tully (Anthony Cotton) notified Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) over the knife being his son’s.
Despite his innocence, Dylan now faces time in prison.
