Coronation Street: Star Confirms Emotional Conclusion to Lauren’s Trial Storyline
Coronation Street star Cait Fitton has taken to social media to confirm that Lauren Bolton’s trial is set to be an emotional watch.
The troubled teen faces the jury next week after killing Joel Deering (Calum Lill) in September 2024.
Joel made Lauren’s life hell when he groomed her and left her for dead after a brutal attack, leading her to flee Weatherfield and go into hiding.
When she learnt of poor Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) ordeal after being accused of her murder, she secretly returned to apologise – but Joel tracked her down.
It was then revealed that she was pregnant with Joel’s baby, and she agreed to lie to the police and say that Nathan Curtis had been responsible for her attack.
Knowing that Lauren’s baby could link him to his crimes, Joel offered to help her flee the country, before enacting a twisted plan of his own.
The sinister solicitor drugged Lauren with pills to induce early labour, before locking her in the flat alone.
Thankfully, Max Turner (Paddy Bever) came to her rescue, and Lauren gave birth to baby Frankie, who miraculously survived the ordeal.
As Joel’s crimes finally came to light, he made plenty of enemies on the street, and when his body was later discovered in a river there were numerous suspects.
In a special flashback episode, Lauren was revealed as his killer, having hit him with a rock in defence of boyfriend Max.
After pleas from Max to give herself a chance at a happy future with Frankie, Lauren pleaded not guilty to murder, and is set to face the court next week.
Teasing what is ahead in an Instagram Q&A, actress Cait warned fans to ‘get their tissues ready’, as well as describing the scenes with crying emojis.
When asked what it was like to film the scenes, the actress revealed that it was ‘intense’.
‘For me, it was quite an experience,’ she wrote. ‘It felt terrifyingly real, which for an actor is great.

‘It was intense but super fun being on location as always. I’m really excited for you guys to watch!’
The trial is set to begin next Friday, and things get off to a bad start when the prosecution barrister paints Lauren as a liar.
As Lauren and her supporters watch on with mixed emotions while the prosecution and defence go back and forth, will things start looking up?
With Lauren facing a 20-year prison stretch and her barrister warning that things could go either way, will she be found guilty or not guilty?
