Coronation Street terror for Amy as sinister character stages frightening return
Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) is set to face fresh terror on Coronation Street when a frightening face from her past returns.
It has been confirmed villain Eric Sandford is on his way back to Weatherfield after two years.
Fans will remember him as the father of her rapist Aaron Sandford, played by James Craven.
Actor Craig Cheetham has filmed a one-off appearance set to air in the coming weeks, Metro understands.
The episode will have huge consequences for Amy, who is still overcoming being conned by The Institute cult leader Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) last year.
Amy previously took centre stage in a big consent storyline back in 2023, when Aaron raped her following a night out.
Unfortunately for Amy, after going to the police the case against Aaron was dropped, leaving her devastated.
In the aftermath, Aaron refused to believe he was responsible for the crime and maintained that Amy wanted to have sex just as much as him.
Aaron eventually realised what he had done when he reflected on the evening in question, but the character then departed Weatherfield with his abusive dad Eric without facing justice for his crime.
But just what brings Eric back to Weatherfield?
Actress Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy, previously spoke to Metro about the impact of the storyline.
She said: ‘Starting these conversations with parents and children, between friends and siblings [is important]. Having these important conversations about consent and about, if this has happened to you, being able to talk about it.
‘And also how to live with it, how to move on with it, because I think that’s what we’re seeing more and more with Amy’s character. It doesn’t go away. This isn’t just a one-off storyline. That is something you live with for the rest of your life, and it’s about explaining the importance of tat to the audience. To say “This is lifechanging.” It’s started some really important conversations. It’s really opened up the conversation.’
She added: ‘That’s the great thing about Corrie and soap in general – that’s why it’s great to be here! Soaps are an amazing platform to discuss all these really important topics, while also making sure people can relate to the characters. People have grown up watching these characters, so when they’re hearing them be open about things they feel like they can be as well.’
