Rob’s prison escape ‘confirmed’ as torrid and illegal affair is exposed in Coronation Street
Notorious Coronation Street killer Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) recently returned to our screens claiming to have turned over a new leaf – but all may not be as it seems…
Rob was jailed for the murder of Tina McIntyre in 2014, after sister Carla Connor (Alison King) turned him in following his confession.
This put a huge strain on their relationship, with Rob later enacting his revenge by forcing Johnny Connor to reveal that he was Carla’s biological father.
The siblings have had no contact for years as a result, but Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) recently changed that.
In recent weeks, the hunt has been on to find Carla another kidney donor, after hers was damaged by sepsis.
Though Carla was insistent that she would wait until one from the donor register became available, Bobby had other plans, and soon paid Rob a visit asking him to be Carla’s donor.

Rob eventually agreed, revealing that he had found God and wanted to make amends with Carla after their previous feud.
However, it appears that this might not be completely true, as it will soon be revealed that Rob is having an illegal affair with prison guard Mandy, played by former Shameless actress Rebecca Atkinson.
With Mandy and Rob clearly on the same team, is there more to Rob’s generous offer than meets the eye?
Could the guard and prisoner be planning an elaborate escape so that they can be together, or will they be caught for their illegal relationship?

‘With Rob, there are always motives to make his life better than what it is, and that may well get him into trouble yet again,’ actor Marc Baylis previously teased.
Producer Kate Brooks also promised ‘lots of twists and turns’ in this storyline, with Carla’s relationship with new girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) being tested in the process.
‘[Rob] comes back to the show and we think he might be a reformed character who has seen the error of his ways, but whether that’s the case or not, I don’t know!

Rob’s storyline will be a huge test for Carla and Lisa (Picture: ITV)
‘So, it’s a big story for them and a big story for Rob. Lots of twists and turns. It’s a big story for Betsy [Swain (Sydney Martin)] as well, who is fabulous and will be right at the centre of that.
‘It’s really exciting, and what I like about this story in particular is that Carla and Lisa are finally together and united, everyone knows about them and they’re moving on with their lives, and then this drops on them, and they’re like, “How did that happen? Are we not meant to be relaxing and enjoying being with each other?”
‘So, it’s a real test for their relationship in the early stages, but a good test.’
