Carla reveals huge update on fight for new kidney in Coronation Street
Carla Connor’s (Alison King) health took a massive hit at the beginning of this year when sepsis left her kidney with lasting damage in Coronation Street.
Since then, the hunt has been on to find a donor, with several of Carla’s family members volunteering to be tested.
However, Carla was adamant that she would wait for a kidney to become available from the donor register, much to the concern of her family.
Determined to find her a suitable match, Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) visited killer dad Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) in prison, and asked him to consider being tested.
Though Rob initially refused, he eventually relented and told Bobby that he’d found religion and wanted to set aside his differences with sister Carla and try to help her.
With Rob in agreement, it was quite the mission to encourage Carla to accept, but after paying Rob a visit, she agreed to let him get tested.
In upcoming scenes, Carla tells girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) that they are set to run the tests to find out if Rob’s kidney is a match and, if it is, she will need to pay the deposit.
Viewers will know that Carla has been forced to go private for her transplant, due to the cost of keeping a prisoner in hospital.
Fortunately, Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) agreed to lend Carla her inheritance, while Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) are on a desperate mission to pay back the money they stole from her.
Ahead of the procedure, Carla visits Rob to inform him that he will be tested in prison.
