Carla Connor (Alison King) is set to get life-changing news in upcoming Coronation Street scenes which will send her into a panic.
It’s been a whirlwind few months for the factory boss, who has survived a bleed on the brain after a robbery-gone-wrong, settled into a new relationship with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and learnt that she is in need of another kidney transplant.
After she contracted sepsis, Carla’s kidney took a lot of damage, and the hunt was on for a donor.
Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) wasted no time in pleading with dad Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) to donate one of his organs to his estranged sister, and eventually Rob agreed.
It took some convincing to encourage Carla to accept the offer, and though she remained suspicious of Rob, she eventually relented and agreed to allow Rob to get tested to see if he’s a match.
In upcoming scenes, it seems that Rob’s generosity may have ulterior motives when he shares a passionate kiss with prison guard Mandy, who asks if he still wants to go ahead with his plan.
What exactly are they up to?
Later, Carla gets a call to inform her that Rob has been rushed to hospital, having had an allergic reaction to some antibiotics.
After sending Carla off in search of a consultant who wants to talk to her, Mandy takes the opportunity to uncuff Rob – will they make a run for it together?
The reality of her situation dawns on Carla later in the week when she is contacted with the information that Rob’s kidney is a match, and she is thrown into panic.
She is quick to pay Rob a visit to let him know that the surgery will be taking place the following day. How will he react?
On the morning of the operation, Carla is left nervous when the doctor reveals that there has been a delay to Carla’s operation.
As Carla worries that Rob has got cold feet, are her suspicions correct? Will Rob let Carla down in her time of need?
