Coronation Street has been pulled from schedules on Friday this week, but fans shouldn’t worry, as they will be treated to the next instalment of the ITV soap tonight.

Instead of airing in its usual slots on Wednesday and Friday, the rest of this week’s Corrie episodes will air tonight and tomorrow, at the usual time of 8pm.

Friday’s slot will be filled by coverage of an FA Cup match between Manchester United and Leicester City, which will air from 7.30pm on ITV One.

The change comes amid a huge week on the Manchester-based soap, as the locals deal with the dramatic fire that broke out in the Platt’s house during last night’s episode.

The lives of both Max Turner (Paddy Bever) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) are hanging in the balance, after they were both caught up in the blaze.

After Toyah was knocked unconscious by Abi Webster (Sally Carman), she was caught up inside the house when a mystery assailant dropped a match through the front door.

Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) managed to pull her out of the burning building, while Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) searched for young Lily.

With Lily safe elsewhere, Max rushed in to get Shona, but as the pair attempted to make their escape, they found the door locked.

Though Shona managed to force it open and get out, it swung shut behind her, leaving Max trapped.

With Max still inside the building, his family were horrified when it was rocked by an explosion.

In upcoming scenes, firefighters will pull Max’s lifeless body from the building and put him in an ambulance – but will he make it to hospital in time?

For the rest of this week’s episodes, DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is on the hunt for the fire-starter.

Elsewhere, Carla Connor (Alison King) informs Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) that he will undergo tests to see if his kidney is a match in prison, leaving him irritated.

Meanwhile, Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) fears for Abi increase as she confesses to hallucinating Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni).
