Two Coronation Street icons arrested – and they’re reported by loved ones
Two Coronation Street icons have been arrested in tonight’s episode after being reported to police by loved ones.
DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is on the hunt for the arsonist who set fire to the Platt’s house at the beginning of this week, and it seems that there are several locals in the frame.
After receiving a visit from David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) dodgy prison buddy Andy, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) grew suspicious, and soon shared her concerns with brother Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).
When they confronted David with the fact that Andy had served time for insurance fraud and that that, paired with his fire-starting search history, didn’t look good, David protested his innocence.
However, with David unable to say what he was really up to on the night of the fire, Nick took matters into his own hands and reported his brother to the police.
At the hospital, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) had caught wind of the accusations flying around, and demanded the truth from David.
She was shocked when he confessed that he hadn’t started the fire because he had been in a different part of Manchester acting as a getaway driver for a robbery.
As Shona railed at him, things got ten times worse when Kit arrived to haul David in for questioning.
Unable to reveal where he’d really been on the night of the fire, David urged Kit to call Andy, insisting he’d be able to give him an alibi.
However, Andy claimed not to have seen David at all that day, dropping him right in it and causing Kit to place David under arrest.
David isn’t the only one in the frame for arson though, as Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) made some confessions of her own.

She revealed to Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) that she couldn’t remember where she’d been on the night of the fire, after throwing a bottle of vodka at Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).
She explained that the next thing she knew, she was waking up in Victoria Gardens with a box of matches in her pocket…
Steve was furious, having given her a false alibi, and soon came clean to Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), who encouraged him to do the right thing.
Later, Leanne was also hauled into the police station in handcuffs – but has Kit got the right person?
