But what viewers don’t realise is that the action sequence caused almost as much upheaval on set as it did for the Platt family in Weatherfield.

Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price, who play David Platt and Nick Tilsley, lifted the lid on the struggles that came with shooting that scene during their podcast On The Sofa.

Jack shared that filming actually had to be pushed back due to terrible weather conditions on set.

The actor told listeners: “When we were filming that, Ben, do you remember all the problems we had with the weather? It snowed, didn’t it, the first night?

“We were meant to be filming until 4 am. My call time was 11 o’clock at night. Then they said, ‘No, everyone’s going home at 9 because the snow was so bad.’”

Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker, then quizzed them on just how long it took to shoot the jaw-dropping explosion.

“Three nights,” Ben revealed, before Jack jumped in, adding: “Did we have four nights but we only ended up filming two and a half?”

“Yeah,” Ben agreed. “And then the inside was done on a completely different day.

The gripping storyline has seen the Platt family terrorised by gangster Harvey Gaskell and his thugs after David stole money from him.

Things reached boiling point when a hooded figure pushed a petrol-soaked rag through the letterbox, setting No. 8 alight.

As flames engulfed the house, Nick rushed to save Toyah, who was left unconscious on the kitchen floor.

Meanwhile, Shona and Max braved the inferno to find Lily – but when Shona stumbled out of the house, gasping for air, she revealed that Max was still inside.

Moments later, the house erupted in a massive explosion, leaving David screaming for his son.

Max was later pulled from the wreckage and rushed to hospital in critical condition.
