Coronation Street star unrecognisable as she lands much different new role
Former Coronation Street star Alexandra Mardell has surprised fans with a shock new role that has aired to millions of sport fans across the globe.
The actress, 31, played Steve McDonald’s (Simon Gregson) estranged daughter Emma Brooker on the ITV soap between 2018 and 2022.
Ditsy hairdresser Emma arrived on the cobbles and soon entered into a relationship with David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd).
It later became apparent that he was only interested in her to try and prove his masculinity after being raped by Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton).
Questions surrounding her paternity arose following her step-father’s death, and at his funeral, it was revealed that she was the secret daughter of Fiona Middleton (Angela Griffin) – who had fled Weatherfield, pregnant with Steve’s baby, in 1998.
Later stories involved her attempted marriage to Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford), a man who suffered with factitious disorder, and moving to Australia with the grandson of a man whose death she covered up.
Since leaving The Street, Alexandra has voiced characters in Fireman Sam and won the 2022 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

She’s also starred in sitcom The Family Pile for ITV, and more recently, in Middlesbrough-set comedy Smoggie Queens for BBC Three.
Earlier this week she shared that her voice featured in a commercial during the Super Bowl – the much celebrated annual American football league championship.
The event is marked with a spectacular halftime performance, this year featuring Kendrick Lamar.
Alexandra’s tones were heard telling viewers to nip to the loo before his set, as she promoted Angel Soft tissue paper.
‘Think I’ve forever peaked in the ‘fun fact’ game.’
Her Smoggie Queens co-star Elijah Young commented: ‘So cool !!’
