A Coronation Street legend has suffered a heart attack in terrifying scenes after a serious confrontation.
Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) health has been on a downward spiral in recent weeks as a result of Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) repeatedly drugging his tea with antihistamines.
However, her antics were finally uncovered today, as Ken caught onto her schemes.
Cassie has been using Ken’s credit card to order little treats for herself, always finding sly ways to explain away each new purchase.
In recent scenes, Ken returned home from the shop empty-handed, claiming that his card had declined at the till, and decided that he needed to look at his accounts.
His suspicions only rose when Cassie made countless excuses to try and stop him from digging any further.
With a stern word, Ken ordered her to go to the shop and pay with cash, asserting that he was too tired to go back himself.
However, when Cassie left, his eyes snapped open and he immediately took to his laptop to investigate.
When Cassie returned and presented Ken with a cup of tea, he switched the mugs, before questioning Cassie’s hesitation.
Determined to keep the lie going, Cassie picked up the drugged mug, before Ken stopped her, admitting that he knew she had put something in it.
He laid out all his evidence, from Bertie Osbourne’s accusations to the unexpected deliveries, and soon Cassie was confessing to her crimes.
Devastated, Ken ordered her out, but the confrontation took a toll and he promptly collapsed.
When Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) found him, she quickly called for an ambulance and had him rushed to hospital, where the doctor confirmed that he had had a heart attack and would need to undergo surgery to fit a stent.
Despite the age-related risks, Ken pulled through and wasted no time in telling his family exactly what Cassie had been up to.
As Cassie attempted to make a run for it, she was caught by a furious Tracy, who grabbed her by the hair to make sure she wouldn’t go anywhere before the police could arrest her.
Is Cassie set to face severe consequences, and will Ken be okay?
