A familiar face to soapland makes his arrival to Coronation Street this evening.

Ryan Mulvey, a former Hollyoaks star, will swap the village for Weatherfield, as his new character meets Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).

If you recognise the star but can’t quite remember his Hollyoaks character and storyline then fear not!

Here’s everything you need to know about Ryan, as well as his role in Corrie.

Who plays Dylan’s friend Brody in Coronation Street?

Brody is played by Ryan Mulvey. He’s big break came when he secured the role of JJ Osbourne in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.

What happened to JJ in Hollyoaks?

Ryan was part of a harrowing and important storyline in the show, which focused on JJ sexually abusing his sister Frankie (Isabelle Smith).

Their mum Suzanne (Suzanne Hall) had long ignored her claims, allowing JJ – in horrific scenes – to rape his own sibling.

The abuser was eventually diagnosed with leukaemia and recorded a video confession for Frankie, finally admitting what he did.

Frankie, however, donated her bone marrow so that he could live, hoping that he would be well enough to stand trial and pay for his crimes.

When the case went to trial, JJ claimed that his confession was recorded under duress, but he finally admitted to the crimes and the jury found him guilty.

Following his sentencing, Dylan must get used to life in the STC, which is where he meets Brody.

When Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) arrives to speak with Dylan, Brody witnesses the exchange and gets the impression they know each other.

Dylan tries to make his excuses about how he knows Daniel, insisting he used to be a neighbour, but Brody warns him sucking up to a teacher won’t go down well and advises him to keep it on the downlow.

Brody’s interest in him leaves Dylan full of dread, but when he later gets a hard time from some lads, Brody sends them packing and tells him to stick with him until he finds his feet.

But is Brody as genuine as he seems, or has he got other intentions?
