Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger has confirmed a big new storyline for her character Glenda Shuttleworth as she ‘goes to war’ with some unruly neighbours.

Recently, viewers were introduced to brand-new characters Mick and Lou Michaelis (Joe Layton and Farrel Hegarty), who have already proven to be quite unruly.

It was revealed that Mick was the man driving the van that had been terrorising Chesney Brown (Sam Aston), putting Lou in an awkward situation as she befriended his wife Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell).

‘I think because they are coming from a place where they weren’t liked previously, Lou’s trying everything she can to make a fresh start and build friendships – but I don’t think she realises that the problem is probably her,’ Farrel previously explained.

Their antics have disrupted the day-to-day lives of their other new neighbours too, with their loud music and dumping of rubbish in the ginnel.

In upcoming scenes, they are also set to get on the wrong side of barmaid Glenda, actress Jodie has revealed.

‘We’ve filmed quite a few bits with them and all I’m going to say is they’re great,’ she enthused to The Sun.

‘They’re a really good mix and they rile up a lot of people in the soap. There will be quite a few people they don’t get on with.

‘I think Glenda likes to trust her gut a lot of the time and we’ll see. But Glenda doesn’t know if they’re a [bad egg] just yet. She bore a grudge.’

Glenda has had a dramatic year on the cobbles, from going to war over her inheritance with brother George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) to having her heart broken by Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell).

However, their is still more to come from the beloved character, Jodie has confirmed.

‘There are bits coming up but I can’t say, I just want to shake her,’ she told the publication, before enthusing about her role in the soap.

‘I love that things go wrong for her because I relate to it in my own life. I love playing Glenda.

‘I think the great thing about Glenda and the flip side that Corrie’s always done is tell the good side to a dark story and I think Glenda has a lot of backstory that she’s never let out and when she does let her wall down she’s quite endearing.’
