Fresh knife horror in Coronation Street as show legend is targeted in murder plot
He’s been through so much already but sadly, David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) ordeal in Coronation Street takes a horrifying new turn next week.
Last year, David made a life-changing mistake when he stole money belonging to Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor). He thought it would be fine because Harvey is behind bars, but has now realised that approach was very naïve indeed.
A few weeks ago, during a desperate attempt to pay Harvey back, David concluded in his mind that he’d set fire to the Platt home, and then claim on the insurance.
David never got round to doing this, because his son Max (Paddy Bever) ended up committing the crime instead.

Still needing some money though, David remains in contact with old mate and ever so dodgy Andy.
In upcoming episodes, Andy heads back to Weatherfield and goes in search of David. He eventually finds him locking up the salon.
As Andy approaches, he confronts David while brandishing a knife. He explains that Harvey wants him dead for his life insurance.

Believing his days are now numbered, David is forced to mask his turmoil around the likes of Shona (Julia Goulding) and Nick (Ben Price).
And on Wednesday, we get a flashforward, which sees medics desperately trying to save David’s life.
As you can see in the spoiler video above, a voiceover reveals that he has ordered a hit on himself and knows he only has hours left to live before he is taken out.
The following hours see David get drunk before stumbling into the road as a car approaches. To Shona’s horror, she watches a car plough right into David.
But David’s hit on himself implicates another Weatherfield local when Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) is also knocked down.
Having heard the crash, Nick, Sarah (Tina O’Brien), Kit (Jacob Roberts) and Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) fly out of the pub to find Daisy and David seriously injured.
Shona rushes over to David and finds him bleeding to death.
Both characters are then rushed to hospital, but will they survive?
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday at 8pm on ITV1 or stream first from 7am on ITVX.
