This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.

Max Turner’s (Paddy Bever) fate has finally been revealed in Coronation Street, and it’s bad news for the young arsonist.

The aspiring hairdresser headed to court in today’s episode for his sentencing, after pleading guilty to starting the fire at No.8.

Max set the house on fire hoping that it would allow David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) to claim on the insurance and pay back the money he owed Harvey Gaskell.

However, the plan backfired when Max and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) got caught inside the burning building and ended up in hospital.

With the judge having looked over the details of the case, taking into account Max’s apparent remorse and guilty plea alongside his premeditated actions and suspended sentence, he soon came to a decision.

The Platts were left horrified when the judge revealed that Max would be spending six and a half years behind bars.

Max himself was in a state of shock at the outcome, as he called out to David for support.

This marks the end of actor Paddy Bever’s time on the cobbles, after leaving the role earlier this year.

‘After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way,’ the 22-year-old said.

‘It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories,’ he added to The Mirror.

Later in tonight’s episode, it was confirmed that Max would be moved to a prison across the country in the hopes of keeping him safe from Harvey.

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for Harvey to find out where he was going and send a threat to David.

Will Max be free to return to Weatherfield once he’s served his sentence, or will Harvey see to it that he doesn’t make it out at all?
