Is David Platt leaving Coronation Street? What we know so far
David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) life will be left hanging in the balance during last night’s episode of Coronation Street as the character is hit by a car.
So far this year, focus for David has been on trying to pay Harvey Gaskell his money back. A few weeks ago, he was going to set fire to the Platt home and then claim on the insurance, but his plan went awry when son Max (Paddy Bever) went through with the idea first.
With Max behind bars and David still needing to pay the gangster back, he has decided that the only way he can do it – is if he dies.
It’s a dark storyline to say the least, but will the car crash see David’s final scenes air?
Let’s take a look at everything we know so far.
Is David Platt leaving Coronation Street?
David asked his dodgy mate Andy to take part in a plot that would see him get killed. He believed that his life insurance would be enough to free his family from Harvey.
In last night’s episode of the ITV soap, the focus is on the lead up to the crash, as well as the event itself. It means the aftermath won’t air until Friday.
As it stands, it’s not been confirmed that Jack P Shepherd is leaving his role as David Platt. There is always a chance his exit is being kept top secret by the soap, but given there was no announcement, it’s possible he will survive being hit by a car.
Is Jack P Shepherd going into the Celebrity Big Brother house?

It was reported a few days ago that Jack P Shepherd will be following in the footsteps of friend and co-star Colson Smith, and heading into the Celebrity Big Brother house.
According to an insider, the 37-year-old – who’s played David Platt on the soap since 2000 – will be competing while he takes a break from his regular role.
‘The two lads are great mates, and Colson no doubt told Jack he’d have the time of his life on the show,’ they told The Sun.
‘Jack will be making the most of a gap in appearing on Corrie, which comes as he’s about to be at the centre of a huge storyline on the ITV soap.’
If this information is true, it would mean a departure for David Platt.
But whether that would be a temporary or permanent one, is something we’re not going to reveal just yet.
You’ll have to tune into Friday’s episode of Coronation Street to discover the character’s fate.
