Mollie Gallagher reveals new role worlds away from Coronation Street’s Nina
Coronation Street actress Mollie Gallagher has revealed a new role worlds away from the soap’s Nina Lucas.
The 27-year-old star is set to appear in independent film I Like This Boy, which is currently filming.
Mollie shared a picture from her first day on set on her Instagram page over the weekend.
The film – billed as a psychological thriller – tells the story of a girl called Daphne, who falls in love with a boy in her class and constantly writes about and draws him in her journal.
Convincing herself he is the perfect boy, there is an emotional and physical implosion when Daphne’s crush becomes a delusional nightmare.
Money for the project was raised through a Crowdfunder and reached its £6,000 target in December last year.
Writer and director Alex Mullett said of the film: ‘Not being such a fan of lighthearted romance films it was exciting for me to make something that’s the complete opposite, cheers to something darker and well… bloodier.’

At present, it is currently under wraps who Mollie will be playing in the film.
She joined the cast of Coronation Street as Nina back in 2019.
Mollie won praise for her portrayal of Nina, picking up the award Serial Drama Performance at the NTAs in 2021.
It followed a harrowing storyline that saw her boyfriend Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) die after sustaining injuries in a violent attack.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 or stream first from 7am on ITVX.
