Hattie Dynevor opens up on first major acting role as she’s supported by famous mum
EXCLUSIVE: Waterloo Road favourite Hattie Dynevor has lifted the lid on what her first major acting role is like as she follows in her sister Phoebe's footsteps
Hattie Dynevor has opened up about what her first major acting role has been like on Waterloo Road.
The high school-based BBC programme is returning for its 14th series, and it’s filled with several major changes. With a brand-new school and a completely different headmaster, fans are in for a dramatic new series.
Now, the young actress – who plays Libby Guthrie on the coming-of-age drama – has explained what the transition from student to actor has been like. Speaking exclusively with Daily Star, she confessed it isn’t so strange for her to step back into a school uniform again.
She told us: “I’ve just finished school and now I landed this job straight after. So it’s not really that strange for me to wear a school uniform again.”

It comes after the blonde bombshell shared what the audition process was like to play the daughter of the school’s Head of History. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News earlier this year, she gushed: “It’s amazing.
“I feel like I’ve learnt so much from other people and watching what other people do and you learn so much from being on set. I auditioned for the first series when I came back.
“I auditioned for one of the characters then and then it was a year later that I got my audition for Libby and I was really excited. And yeah, I got the part and it was amazing.”
Hattie later revealed that her mum Sally – who is a staple face on Coronation Street – has been helping her find her feet as an actress. She went on: “[Sally] was really excited for me and she’s helped me with all my lines.
“She’s the best support I could ask for. She’s amazing.” When asked if she would ever audition for a gig on the Manchester-based soap, Hattie teased: “I definitely wouldn’t rule it out but I’m just going to focus on Waterloo and what we’re doing here.”
It appears as though the up-and-coming actor is following in her family’s footsteps. Her older sister Phoebe also played a role in the BBC high school drama back in 2009.

The Bridgerton star landed her first acting role as Siobhan Mailey at the age of 14 back in 2009. She appeared in 20 episodes before a quiet exit in 2010.
